Health Sharing Ministries
With the rise of health insurance costs, we are beginning to receive more and more questions about health sharing ministries. Health Sharing Ministries are Christian membership-based organizations that share the burdens of one another's health care costs. While Health Sharing Ministries are not insurance, becoming a member of a health sharing ministry does exempt one from the IRS Shared Responsibility Tax Penalty. There are several different Health Sharing Ministries:
- Liberty Healthshare
- Samaritin Ministries
Of the three, Medi-Share is probably one of the most well-known. Members pay a monthly share, and in return, they may submit eligible medical bills for payment.
